    Also referred to as balloon valvotomy, balloon valvuloplasty is a medical procedure used to treat constricted heart valves. A catheter with a balloon on the end is inserted into a blood vessel in the groin and guided to the affected valve. The balloon is then inflated, expanding the valve and improving blood flow.
